English as an Additional Language is the EAL pathway in Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. It follows the mainstream English course closely but assesses listening as well, and marks language control explicitly — which means grammar, cohesion and precise vocabulary earn marks rather than being taken for granted.

VCE · VCAAUnits 1–4 with a listening component in the examination alongside the analytical and argument analysis sections; eligibility criteria are set by the VCAA.
